It's that time again. The Center for Science in the Public Interest has announced the latest winners of its Xtreme Eating Awards.
I always love this feature because it fascinates me that people would actually order this stuff off the menu. Or that people sit around and think this stuff up. I mean we are talking about entrees that tip the nutritional scale at 2,000 calories.
I haven't heard of half of these restaurants (hopefully they'll never come to Maine), but I have heard of The Cheesecake Factory,...

Lose weight! Prevent diabetes! Improve your sex life! Stave off depression! Is it a miracle drug? The fountain of youth? Not quite. It's the humble CPAP.
Don't get me wrong. I understand that CPAP is invaluable in alleviating a variety of what ails you. I also understand that there are many interrelated issues and concerns here. For example, being overweight is a factor for sleep apnea but CPAP is a factor for people to lose the weight. Kind of a CPAP chicken-and-egg scenario, if you will.
But I...
Medical profession skeptical about Walgreens plan
January 20, 2010Theresa Flaherty, Managing Editor
Well now I'm thoroughly confused. I just read an article about how a new program at Walgreens that would offer face-to-face consulting services for Type 2 diabetes patients is being panned. By the medical profession.
Now, I realize there is no love lost among independent pharmacies for Walgreens. But, at the heart of the issue, isn't this sort of service supposed to help the patients—and save the health care system money? Isn't this sort of service what's supposed to separate the good...
